Sit In A Chair Or Get Up And Work?
03 Feb / Sit In A Chair Or Get Up And Work?
There is always work to do. Do I want to do it? Not today. It’s Friday, and I want to take the day off. My planner tells me that I cannot do this. Conflict. I am glad to have the work yet would love to crawl into this picture and sit on the crooked blue chair. The shadow tells me there is a sun somewhere that would be shining down on me while I sit. I don’t want it to be in some pretty countryside or on a glorious beach. I want to sit right inside the picture.
What would the experts say?
Business coach: “You are getting close to your weekly goal. Don’t mess it up now. Push through it!”
Therapist: “Ah. You are afraid of your success. Can you be running away?”
Daughter: “When are we leaving?”
Husband: “What’s for dinner?”
Client: “Do you have a minuet?”
Me: “None of the above”.
Sometimes checking out and sitting pretty in a picture, or sitting slouched, leaning back, eyes closed and drinking in the sun is just that. A day to drink the sun in a colorful chair.
When you want to check out:
1) Find a pretty chair
2) Shut your phone
3) Remind yourself that rest is good.
4) Tell your business coach, secretary, assistant, daughter, clients, self: One day of rest bring many days of energy.
Recharge when the battery light blinks red, not when its dead.
Off to my chair.
