What do I think is my most controversial take on life? I think it’s that it’s not important to enjoy life.
In fact, I would even say the more you purposely try to enjoy it the less enjoyable it becomes. What I would say is, figure out what you can do at this moment that’s useful, do that, and if it happens to be enjoyable, great! And if not, you’ve done something worthwhile.
I think too many people try to figure out how to hit that sweet spot where life will be pleasurable, where it will be comfortable, and that’s really not what it’s about.
It’s about service.
It’s about being useful, useful to my maker, useful to others, which is really the same thing because if you love God you’ve got to treat his kids well, and that’s what life‘s about.
You don’t have to like it.
